Georgia Shorts 2026: Thank you, Atlanta!

What a weekend! The Georgia Shorts Film Festival 2026 has officially come to a close, and we are still buzzing from the incredible energy that took over the 7 Stages Theatre in Atlanta.

From our historic Juneteenth Opening Night hosted by the phenomenal HeaveN Beatbox to our short film screening blocks, this edition proved once again how vibrant, diverse, and powerful our independent film community truly is.

Addressing Sunday’s Schedule Changes

As many of you experienced first-hand, Sunday afternoon did not go as planned. Due to a sudden and severe double-booking error by our venue, we were forced to unexpectedly move our Closing Awards Ceremony to an earlier time slot.

We know how much hard work, travel, and anticipation goes into attending these ceremonies, and we deeply apologize for the frustration, confusion, and disruption this sudden shift caused to our filmmakers, writers, and guests. This situation was entirely unacceptable, and it is absolutely not the standard of organization or respect we pride ourselves on delivering at Cinema Life events.

We are incredibly grateful to those who were able to adjust on the fly and join us in the room, and we extend our deepest apologies to everyone who missed the ceremony due to this. Your talent deserved a seamless celebration, and we are already taking internal measures to ensure this never happens at any future event.

With that commitment to doing better next time, we want to shift our focus to where it truly belongs: honoring the exceptional work of this year’s lineup. A massive congratulations goes out to all of our official selections and, of course, our award winners.

Thank you to our incredible panelists, Sahar Simmons and Nicole Sage, our workshop hosts Tim Stoltenberg (Dad’s Garage) and Marti King Young, and every single one of you who bought a ticket, applauded in the dark, and networked in the lobby. You are the heartbeat of Cinema Life.
